DrivetrainIn a vehicle, the term drivetrain or powertrain refers to the group of components that generate power and deliver it to the road surface, water, or air. This includes the engine, transmission, driveshafts, differentials, and the final drive (drive wheels, caterpillar track, propeller, etc.). Sometimes "powertrain" is used to refer to simply the engine and transmission, including the other components only if they are integral to the transmission. A vehicle's driveline consists of the parts of the drivetrain excluding the engine and transmission. It is the portion of a vehicle, after the transmission, that changes depending on whether a vehicle is front wheel drive, four wheel drive, or rear wheel drive. S-AWC drivetrain and the new SST transmission to appear on the new Mitsubishi EVO X BMW X6 will have a more aggressive look, its drivetrain isn’t expected to deviate from the X5’s current offerings. Expect top-of-the-line models to get the same 350 horsepower 4.8-liter V8 backed up by a six-speed automatic. BMW’s new twin-turbo 3.0-liter is a good bet for the base models. A manual transmission is a possibility for European markets Winding Road Magazine has captured some sensational new shots of Subaru's hotly awaited WRX STi. The standard WRX has left some enthusiasts wanting, what with its similar drivetrain to the current model (and awkward looks), but the STi variant should go some way toward rectifying things.
