Epoxies
The Epoxies are an American band from Portland, Oregon formed in 2000. Heavily influenced by punk rock and New Wave the band has described themselves as robot garage rock. Current members include FM Static on synthesizers, guitarist Viz Spectrum, leading lady Roxy Epoxy, bassist Shock Diode, and drummer Ray Cathode. They have grown in popularity due in large part to extensive touring in both the United States and Europe where they have showcased franticly paced, highly energetic on stage productions. They are known for using special effects for their live act (including bubble machines, fog machines, and lasers taped to instruments) and sporting home made costumes made mostly of duct tape. This has resulted in comparisons to other costumed bands such as The Aquabats and The Phenomenauts (both of whom the Epoxies have toured with) despite the fact that the Epoxies do not have heroic personas. The group's music is a novel synthesis of punk rock and New Wave but their lyrics are strictly focused on sci-fi themes, retro-futuristic technology, and feelings of alienation. Robots, androids, clones, and nuclear weapons all figure prominently in the Epoxies lyrics. The band re-recorded the single "Synthesized" in the fictional simlish language for the release of The Sims 2: Open for Business video game.
