Erasure
Erasure is an English synth pop duo band consisting of keyboardist Vince Clarke and singer Andy Bell. Erasure entered the music scene in 1985 with their debut single "Who Needs Love (Like That)" (see 1985 in music). Beginning in late 1986 with the release of their single "Sometimes", Erasure established themselves on the British charts and became one of the most successful artists of the late 1980s and early '90s. Albums such as The Circus, The Innocents, Wild!, Chorus, I Say I Say I Say, Erasure, Loveboat and Nightbird demonstrated a further diversity of sound. As pop craftsmen, the pair's work bears comparison with that of Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Eurythmics, OMD, a-ha, Roxette, Tears for Fears, The Lightning Seeds, and other pop songwriters from the same generation. Erasure in the news
Britney Spears is set to "surprise" fans with a one-off appearance on Cyndi Lauper's True Colors tour when it stops in Los Angeles on Saturday. The singer will perform one song at the Greek Theatre gig, which will also feature Lauper, Erasure, Debbie Harry, The Dresden Dolls and The MisShapes with Jeffree Star. In Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall, and timed to coincide with Gay Pride Week and presented by Logo, MTV Networks's gay-and-lesbian-themed cable channel, the True Colors Tour advanced a clear anti-discriminatory agenda. The Human Rights Campaign has joined forces with legendary performer Cyndi Lauper to launch a national tour in support of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. The True Colors 2007 Tour will feature Cyndi and other incredible artists including Erasure, Debbie Harry, The Dresden Dolls and Margaret Cho.
