Mustard Plug is a ska punk band from Grand Rapids, Michigan. They're known for happy-sounding third wave ska music. Their songs usually include raspy vocals, fast singing, sing-along choruses, an upstroke guitar technique, distorted guitars, power chords, walking basslines, 4/4 drumming, and catchy horn parts. Formed in 1991, the band's original members were Dave Kirchgessner, Mike McKendrick, Colin Clive, and Anthony Vilchez. Currently the band consists of Dave (Vocals), Brandon Jenison (trumpet), Jim Hofer (trombone), Nate Cohn (drums), Colin Clive (guitar/vocals), and Rick Johnson (bass). The band has regularly toured throughout the United States, Europe, Japan, and South America. They have toured with the Warped Tour twice, and participated in the Ska Against Racism Tour. Their Masterpieces CD combines old songs with new recordings, without the use of a Digital Audio Workstation. On July 27, 2006, the band announced on their website that they will soon be releasing a new album. According to the shows page at www.sectionlive.com, the name of the new album is "In Black and White". Mustard Plug's 6th full lengh album, officialy named "In Black and White", is to be released September 11th, 2007. It will include 13 tracks and will be released on Hopeless Records. It was recored at the same studio as there "Evildoers Beware". It was produced by Bill Stevenson who has also produce albums by the Decendents and NoFX. The cover art is available at Hopeless Records website. Mustard Plug stated in an interview that their band name originated by "a guy in the early stages of the band was making a sandwich and that crusty stuff that forms on the mustard bottle when you put it in the fridge without wiping it off first gave him an interesting idea for a name. It was up against some pretty stiff competition, but be glad that one got picked and we didn't call ourselves the "shrinky dinks" or the "wanker daddys." Ford Motor Company Chief Executive Alan Mulally says he expects the company to sell plug-in hybrids in five to 10 years. What cannot be said -- although it is now heard daily in Washington -- is that the surge, which is shorthand for Gen. David Petraeus's new counterinsurgency strategy, has failed. The tragedy is that, just as a working strategy has been found, some Republicans in the Senate have lost heart and want to pull the plug.
