A Valid Path is the fourth solo album that Alan Parsons made after the split of his previous group The Alan Parsons Project. The gap between this and his previous album, The Time Machine, was the second greatest period between two consecutive albums, second only to the time between the split of the Project and his first solo work. The DualDisc of A Valid Path is now available. The disc is loaded with special features including Track Commentary by Alan and Interviews with Alan and the main collaborators including David Gilmour and The Crystal Method. The DVD side also includes two tracks from the Live In Madrid Concert. The album can be heard in stunning 5.1 Surround in both DTS and Dolby Digital formats. There are also Lyrics on the screen and a couple of Easter Egg surprises. A leap into the world of computers and electronic music, A Valid Path is filled with polyrhythmic drumbeats and soaring guitar solos (provided in part by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour), and sees a number of fascinating new collaborations, including The Crystal Method, Shpongle, Jeremy Parsons, Uberzone, The Nortec Collective and PJ Olsson, who also now sings with the Alan Parsons Live Project. In time-honored Alan Parsons style, A Valid Path merges cultures, sensibilities, instrumentation, and artists in a unique but completely natural blend.
