The Taj Mahal, regarded as one of the most beautiful monuments, was Saturday night voted in a global poll as one of the new seven wonders of the world. The others were the Coliseum in Rome, Petra in Jordan, the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the Incan ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru, the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza in Mexico
Machu Picchu in Peru, Jordan's ancient city of Petra, the Statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Taj Mahal in India, and the Chichen Itza pyramid in Mexico were the other winners, according to the New7Wonders Foundation, which organized the poll that drew more than 90-million votes. Results were announced yesterday.
