Deep in the Congolese jungle is a band of apes that, according to local legend, kill lions, catch fish and even howl at the moon. Local hunters speak of massive creatures that seem to be some sort of hybrid between a chimp and a gorilla. The film starts out by explaining the world in which the story exists, where Vampires aren’t exactly the terrifying creatures that go bump in the night. They are more along the lines of the next step in human evolution. They live to be 200 and still look like they’re in there late 30’s.
