Thee Hypnotics

Situation Two, aka Situation 2, was a record label which began life in 1981 as an offshoot of the larger Beggars Banquet label. At the time, Beggars Banquet records were distributed by Warner Bros.; so, to appeal to the indie audience and to get releases into the indie charts, the Situation Two label was created.

During its 11-year history, Situation Two came to prominence as the home for a varied number of indie favourites. These included Madchester band The Charlatans, Bauhaus side projects Tones on Tail and David J, and cult bands like The Associates, Thee Hypnotics, Gene Loves Jezebel, Play Dead, Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Buffalo Tom, and early incarnations of The Cult.

When the label was dissolved in 1992, many of the label's bands found their releases being issued on the main Beggars Banquet label.
